How to SUM by matching partial text in Excel

Details of File menu in Excel 2003

I hope you know about the basic of MS-Excel from my previous topic. Now I am going to work with the File menus of Excel 2003.

Image 1: File menu

File Menu:

  • The first menu is New. You can take a new MS-Excel file or a MS-Excel template, or MS-Excel website template from this menu.
  • Open menu is only for opening any previously saved MS-Excel file from your PC or Web.
  • By using Close menu you can close a MS-Excel file which is currently opened.
  • Save is for saving a MS-Excel file into your any disk drive.
  • With the help of Save As menu you can make a copy of MS-Excel file which is previously got title or saved.
  • Save as web page is the menu by which you can save your MS-Excel sheet as HTML (Hyper Text Mark-up Language) or web page (.htm or .html) format.
  • Save as Workspace is as like as Save As menu. But the difference is, Save or Save As option works for current workbook only. On the other hand, Save as Workspace makes a group with few Excel Workbooks you have selected and if you Save a workbook then Save command will apply for all workbooks in the group. The file format of this type of file is .xlw.
  • File Search: If you wish to search any MS-Excel (.xls for MS-Excel 2003) file from your local disk drive (C: D: etc.) then you can use it. You can use Advance Search option under this menu such as, searching with file size, author name etc.
  • Page Setup is for setting up your page as you like to print.
  • Print Area is used for setting specific cells that will print.
  • Print Preview is used for preview a page before printing.
  • Print menu is for printing command.
  • Send to is for sending the currently opened MS-Excel file to various locations such as Desktop.
  • With Properties menu you can set the Author, Title of currently opened file. And finally Exit command is used for quit from MS-Excel program.

Well, these are the items of File menu of Excel 2003. If you have anything to know, please knock me. Don't forget to subscribe my blog.

Cumulative Closing Balance like a Bank Statement in PivotTable

A Bank Employee in many case needs to calculate the Closing Balance after each transaction in PivotTable like a Bank Statement . But with the help of Calculated Field of a PivotTable , you can only calculate Field with Field . It's not possible to use a formula in Calculated Field where you can mention a single cell with Relative Reference Cell . Value Paste and Formula Paste

In many case, in our professional life, we need to do Copy and Value Paste or Copy and Formula Paste in all most always. Those employees, who works under MIS Department, have to do it lots of time in a single day to prepare reports. It is very time costing task in Office. Many of us use Excel Menubar to do it, others are using Keyboard Shortcut by pressing ALT key (like for Value Paste Press ALT+H+V+V and for Formula Paste Press ALT+H+V+F ). But did you noticed that, these two ways strongly need your attention to do this task. More clearly, if you choose Value Paste from Menubar , then what you need to do? First you should take the mouse in Hand Wheel the mouse in Home menu Then Click on Paste Then you pressure your eyes to find the Value Paste icon And then Click on it to paste it These all steps can take more than 1 second. Am I right? Below is an image of this process: Image 1: Value Paste from Home Menu On the other hand, if you choose the shortcut f...
