How to delete Personal.xlsb file that contains personal macro?

Personal Macro is restricted to use with others opened Excel workbook. So, it hides by default from Macro list. Personal Macro basically creates another Excel window which is hidden. If you unhide the hidden window then you can see the Personal Macro. Before you Delete the Personal Macro, you need to unhide the Excel window first.


How to unhide the Personal Macro Window?

To Open the Personal Macro Window first go to the Workbook that contains the Personal Macro. Then Click on View | Unhide:

Then you will see a Unhide dialog box contains the unhide workbooks list:

Click on PERSONAL and then Ok. Now you will see that new Personal Workbook displayed and shown in Taskbar.

How to delete from Personal Macro?

After unhiding the Personal workbook, Close all opened workbook including Personal Workbook that contains personal macro. And Exit from Microsoft Excel.

Re-Open the workbook which contains the macro. This will refresh the Excel Program to help loading the Personal Macro in Macro list.

Go to Developer tab and Click on Macro to open the Macro dialog box.

This dialog box will show the macro list. By default it will show the Public Macro list. Select PERSONAL.XLSB from Macros in drop down list.

Now this will show the Personal macro list.

Select the Macro name which you want to delete from Macro Name and Click on Delete button. For confirmation a message will appear.

Click on Yes button to delete the macro under Personal.xlsb file. Save the Workbook that. Close and Exit the Excel program.


How to delete from Hard Drive?

Macro has deleted. But, it may disturb you while you open any MS Excel file next time. To solve this you can delete it physically from Hard Drive. So, how to do it?

Go to any Windows Folder and Click on Options from View menu. To display the Folder Options dialog box.

This will show a Folder Options dialog box. Click on View tab and make sure that the Show hidden files, folders, and drives option has checked.

Go to this location: C:\Users\faysal\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Excel\XLSTART and DELETE the Personal.xlsb file and Empty from recycle bin of your PC.

This will help you to escape the personal.xlsb (personal macro) display problem in Excel VBA.
